Law Faculty Alumni Chapter
President's Message The UNSW Law Alumni Chapter recently held its AGM at which I was elected to replace Gabrielle Upton as President of the Chapter. On behalf of the Chapter, I would therefore like to thank and congratulate Gabrielle for her generous service as President over the past 3 years. Gabrielle has been especially active in the role, devoting a significant amount of time and effort to representing the Chapter at events as well as building an enthusiastic and talented Chapter committee. The Chapter has been very fortunate that Gabrielle also holds the positions of Deputy Chancellor of the University and as a Governor of the Alumni Association. Fortunately for the Chapter Gabrielle will continue to be a member of the Committee having been elected at the AGM to the position of Vice President. I also would like also to congratulate Gulfam Ahmed and Yasser El-Ansary who were re-elected to the positions of Secretary and Treasurer of the Chapter respectively. There was sad news for the Chapter in December with the passing of the Chapter’s serving Patron, The Hon Gordon Samuels. Gordon was a former Chancellor of UNSW, Governor of NSW and Judge of the NSW Supreme Court and his association with the Law Faculty and Chapter will be deeply missed. The Chapter wishes his family well during this difficult time. The Chapter committee recently held a planning meeting to reflect on the year just gone and plan for the year ahead. We are keen to ensure that we are providing a valuable connection between the University and law alumni and that our goals are aligned with those of the Faculty and the UNSW Alumni Association. We also remain committed to fostering relationships between and amongst our law alumni, and any suggestions or feedback on this or any other aspects of the Chapter’s activities would be most welcome. Finally, I encourage you all to maintain your connection with UNSW by becoming actively involved in Chapter.
